Why we built this

I built this because
social media broke me.

Twenty-five years in enterprise tech. Every project I touched made a company richer. None of them made a person's day better.

Then one evening I watched my daughter use a kids' video app.

She wanted to learn how to draw. Watch a science show. Find something fun that actually helped her grow. Simple, wholesome stuff.

Instead, the algorithm gave her ads for toys she didn't ask for. It pulled her into autoplay rabbit holes one video after another. It served her content that wasn't bad — just not what she wanted.

She asked to learn something. The platform decided it knew better.

I knew what was happening. Anyone who's worked in tech knows. Every platform optimizes for one number: time on screen. Not what you learn. Not what you feel. Not what you asked for. Just how long they can keep you scrolling.

The best-performing emotion for that number isn't curiosity. It's anxiety. So that's what the algorithms optimize for. And a child asking to learn how to draw is not the target audience.

◎

So I built the opposite.

MyAlwaysOn doesn't have followers. Because if there are no followers, there's no leaderboard. No social hierarchy. No "why does she have more than me?"

It doesn't have an algorithmic feed. You pick tags. The feed shows signals tagged with those tags. That's it.

It doesn't have ads. It never will. Creators are paid directly by the fans who love their work.

MyAlwaysOn is not a kids' app. It's for the adults who still want what my daughter wanted — to learn, find, and share without being farmed for attention. The story above is why I built it. The product is for the grown-ups who've lived it.

What we're not.

✗ A startup looking for the next billion users
✗ A "creator economy" that turns everyone into a brand
✗ A feed you scroll while waiting in line
✗ A place designed to make you anxious

Who's behind it.
